Stepping away from the Chaos of the scroll.
I know we have all been affected in some way by recent events, and if you are like me, you are feeling some unease. It seems like everywhere we turn there is another breaking headline or heated debate pulling at our emotions. Social media is only adding fuel to an already raging fire. This is keeping us plugged into the chaos 24/7. If you have been feeling anxious, overwhelmed or just plain tired, maybe it is time to step back, take a deep breath, and give yourself permission to unplug.
Even 24 hours can give you back your equilibrium and restore some peace to your world. You will get the added benefit of calming your nervous system, reducing comparisons, reconnecting with what matters and boosting creativity. We are all aware of the liability of staying plugged in, and now more than ever it can cause us all issues.
Take a 24-hour break. Tell someone you are doing it. Bake something, even if it is premade cookies. The smell alone wafting through your house is comforting. Pick up your favorite book, or that book you meant to read but always find yourself scrolling. Go outside and walk around for 10 minutes, take your shoes off and feel the grass under your feet. Sit in your favorite place and put on your comfort show. Pray or meditate for 10 minutes. Think of all the things you have done in the past that brings you comfort. Take out paper and a pen and write someone you love a letter, tell them all the reasons they are valuable to you. Cuddle your pet. Lots of ways we can unplug and self-care instead of staying up to date on current events, and I encourage you to just unplug for the day. Let me know what works for you!
